HAPIGuard and HAPIShield
are both designed to prevent
HOSPTIAL ACQURED
PRESSURE INJURIES
HAPIGuard is an easy to apply strap with a front pad system that secures both NG and Oxygen Tubing above the lip.
HAPIShield Soft and easy cap that secures Oxygen tubing (Nasal Cannula, HFNC…) above the ear. The cap can ALSO be worn under BIPAP/CPAP masks to prevent HAPI along their straps.
- 1. The cap secures hospital grade Oxygen tubing, i.e. Nasal Cannula, HFNC, Bipap Masks, and other oxygen delivery devices, above the ear preventing HAPI relieving patients from common pressure injuries even short exposure
- 2. The cap when worn under BIPAP/CPAP mask will prevent HAPI along those straps.
HapiGuard cap secures hospital grade Oxygen tubing, i.e. Nasal Cannula, HFNC, Bipap Masks, and other oxygen delivery devices. By securing the tubing patients will be relieved from common pressure injuries from even short exposure.
About HAPI
What is Hapi
Hospital Acquired Pressure Injury (HAPI; formerly known as a pressure ulcer) is a localized injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue during an inpatient hospital stay. The result of pressure, shear, or both, HAPI development is additionally associated with other factors (e.g., advanced age, immobility, perfusion, nutritional status, hematological measures, illness severity, and presence of diabetes;. Generally considered preventable, HAPI’s are accepted nursing quality indicators.
If HAPI reaches Stage 3 (full-thickness skin loss) or Stage 4 (fullthickness skin loss and tissue loss), it is a “never event” that is reported to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and that results in subsequent limited reimbursement (Levinson, 2010). Most importantly, HAPI’s can be associated with a longer hospital stay, pain, infection, and even death (Lyder et al., 2012)
